But April babes deserve DIAMONDS! Lucky lucky are the special few that get to count what is arguably the top of all gemstones as their birthstone. The diamond is as you may know the hardest of all gemstones.  It is also said to provide the wearer with longevity in relationships (makes it easy to see why it is the engagement ring stone of choice for many couples) It is also said to bring the wearer, balance and strength.  The name "diamond" comes from the greek word adamas which means "invincible".  Diamonds were first traded in India, often gathered on the shores of the rivers and then traded as currency and coveted by the wealthy and royalty. They transitioned into a fashion accessory in the early 1400's for Europe's elite.  And comes from colorless to a range of colors, and is a 10 on the hardness scale. In fact a diamond is so hard it is 57times more hard that anything else found in nature.
