June is a month that is associated with sunny day, beautiful flowers and a general sense of joy. The sun is shining, school is out, and the summer is just on the horizon. It is also month ceebrated with not one or two but THREE birthstones.
Lets explore the three birthstones of June: Pearl, Alexandrite, and Moonstone.
First we will start with the most common, the Pearl. Now when we say common this is not a bad thing, we don't mean basic. The pearl is anything but basic. It has been treasured for centuries for it's natural beauty, It is formed inside of certain mollusk shells when an irritant such as a grain of sand gets inside. The most common color of pearl is white, but they also come in several other colors, from pink, to green and even black. The are associated with purity, love, innocence and are said to bring a calming and balancing energy to the wearer.
Alexandrite is a rare and beautiful gemstone, and because of it's delicate nature and rarity it is not commonly used anymore as the primary birthstone of June. It is prized for it's color changing abilities and was first discovered in Russia in the 1830's. It can color change from green/blue to a deep red purple. It is beleive to bring good luck and prosperity.
Moonstone is another beautiful gem associated with the month of June. It is a milky, almost pearlescent mineral that comes in shades of white, grey and blue. They are beleived to enhance creativity and emotional intelligence.
